We support duty holders and Project, Service and System (PSS) suppliers to deliver Safety & Environmental (S&E) Management, compliant with current legislation and Defence policy. Our work helps to keep an asset, the people that operate it and the environment around it, safe and in turn, maintain through life Operational Capability and Availability. We offer: y y Policy and Regulation development; y y S&E Management Systems; y y Safety Management – hazard identification and analysis, derivation of safety requirements, safety compliance, hazard tracking, and safety committees; y y Risk Assessment – qualitative and quantitative risk estimation and analysis (FTA, ETA and Bowtie); y y Environmental Management – Stakeholder Communications, Standards Identification and Compliance, Screening & Scoping, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Impact Management (EIM); y y Development of S&E Cases; y y Independent S&E Audit (ISEA); y y Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions & Explosives (WOME) Safety Management – providing specialist WOME knowledge and experience in procurement, storage, handling and disposal; y y Naval and Civil Nuclear – providing specialist Nuclear Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP); y y Functional Software Safety Management – implementing safety management activities in accordance with recognised standards (Def Stan 00-055, IEC 61508, etc.). Support to DSA BMT supports the UK Defence Safety Authority (DSA), providing technical support for the DSA’s Defence Maritime Regulator (DMR). The DMR is responsible for developing the regulatory framework to demonstrate that MoD shipping, diving and port operations are meeting the overarching Safety and Environmental regulations and legislation and in turn, protecting people, equipment and the environment. Tide Class Tankers Working with South Korean Shipbuilders, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), BMT designed the new Tide Class support tankers for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service. As part of this project, we were responsible for ensuring that these innovative double-hull tankers were designed, constructed and can be operated in full compliance with United Kingdom MoD Safety and Environmental Regulation and Policy.
