The decades of experience gained by BMT’s multi-disciplined post design naval architecture and engineering team means that we are ideally placed to meet the capability upgrade and post design support needs of our clients. Whether it is developing system or equipment design change solutions, conducting feasibility studies, producing specifications and guidance information, or performing design assurance activities, we have the experience and knowledge to ensure that safe and justifiable engineering decisions are made, technical outputs are correct and design intent is maintained. We offer: y y Propulsion, electrical, mechanical, structural, outfit and arrangement expertise; y y Engineering feasibility studies; y y Guidance information and installation specification production; y y Electrical power book creation and update; y y Fluid system design, modelling and upgrade; y y Configuration management services; y y Optimisation of supply and support; y y Management of reference platforms, other assets and systems; y y Defect report assessments; y y Trials support and attendance. Post Design Services (PDS) and Capability Upgrades Type 45 Power Improvement Project BMT, BAE Systems and Cammell Laird are currently working as an alliance team appointed by UK MoD to deliver its Type 45 Power Improvement Project (PIP). This project will improve resilience in the Royal Navy’s Type 45 Destroyer power and propulsion system by replacing the existing two diesel generators, fitting an additional diesel generator and modifying the high voltage system on each ship. The contract comprises the major procurement, design and integration of the solution, as well as the physical installation and replacement of equipment. BMT is responsible for completing the majority of the design work that will be passed to Cammell Laird for embodiment into the platform. Diving Equipment PDS BMT manages the PDS Contract for the Self- Contained Air Diving Equipment (SCADE) on behalf of the Underwater and Electronic Warfare (UEW) Project Team. This contract built on our engineers’ collective experience in the provision of PDS for diving and life support equipment on behalf of the Underwater Warfare Systems Integrated Project Team. Core activities that we are responsible for include Defect Report Assessments, Maintenance of Safety Cases, Contract Administration, Documentation and ad-hoc Engineering Support.
